This sailboat and whatever is sitting on top of it, are covered for rain or snow. Since we get a lot of snow and this bay will likely freeze in the winter, I expect this boat will soon be removed from Pend Oreille Lake near Sandpoint Idaho. I was drawn to this landscape by the white tarp that covers the boat and misc. items, as well as the old shed in the background. This is a common scene around the northern Idaho lakes as I'm sure it is many other places as well. I also loved the mast reflections in the water that lead your eye right to the subject.
Paul Hill lives and paints in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born and raised in Idaho, I enjoy painting subjects that are local, regional and familiar. Coeur d'Alene is a destination resort on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. The lake, old buildings, cars, landscapes, wildlife and local scenes are the subject of many of my "Americana like" paintings.
